Installation guide for cell phone battery

A cell phone has become an indispensable item among all the tech gadgetry now available and is now a part of every person's armory, to come to grips with the fast-paced world of today. Landline connections all over the world are fast being replaced by the portable mobile phone as it is called and it has now evolved into a convenience, which offers much more than the normal benefits of a phone. A cell phone however needs proper care and attention for a good performance and for this perhaps the most important aspect is the battery, which forms a vital part of the device. The functional capability of a battery can be judged by the time gap between charges and the life of the battery, before it has to be replaced.

The installation of a battery on the cell phone is not a complicated procedure. All cell phones have a sliding button or clip that keeps the back panel in place. This panel covers the battery and needs to be opened before the new one can be installed. This clip must be pressed or slid out and then one can view the battery. In some phones, the back of the phone itself is the battery.

The battery fits exactly into its slot and the connection points are in perfect alignment with the contact points of the cell phone. If it is the first time that the battery is being replaced, the contact points should be examined carefully to see if there is any corrosion. It is always better to clean these points with isopropyl alcohol (with a cotton wool-tipped applicator) to ensure that they are completely clean and free of any corrosion.

After a suitable interval to allow the alcohol to dry out, the new battery should be inserted. The new battery should be placed in the correct position, so that the connection points of the battery are in the right positioning with the contact points of the cell phone. If there is a back panel, it should be correctly attached over the cell phone battery, once it is inserted properly. There is usually a clicking sound, once the back panel is properly in place.

There are two points to remember once the replacement is completed. The old battery should be disposed off properly, as it is hazardous to the environment. All batteries should be recycled, especially the lithium ion and ni-cad varieties as both these materials can be easily reused. The battery can be left with the cell phone dealer or deposited at the local recycling center. The other aspect to remember is that the new battery has to be charged overnight as almost all batteries come with little or no charge. One has to wait till the next morning to use the cell phone with the fully-charged battery
